Finance and Administration

The IDRC Finance and Administration division plays a crucial role in ensuring the organisation’s effective fiscal management and overall functioning. Led by the Finance and Administrative Director, Ms Catherine Tugaineyo, the division works closely with the Executive Director, Senior Management Team, and the Board of Directors to advance the organisation’s mission. The Finance and Administrative Team comprises 26 dedicated staff members specialising in human resources (people & culture), procurement, administration, finance, and grants. Here’s a breakdown of each department

People & Culture: Headed by Ms Hajara Kyokisa, this department fosters a positive work environment and manages all human resources functions within IDRC. This includes talent acquisition and management, Induction and orientation, Contract Administration, Management of Staff safety, health and benefits, Leave management, Management of Learning & Development, Management of Separation, Policy development & review learning and development, staff retention, and work-life balance initiatives. 

Procurement: Headed by Ms Stella Kugonza, the Procurement department oversees the purchasing processes for goods and services needed by IDRC. Their goal is to ensure the effective procurement and utilisation of capital resources. 

Administration: Headed by Ms Peggy Kakitojo, this department plays a crucial role in the smooth running of IDRC. The department is in charge of overseeing the daily administrative and logistical operations of the organisation. These include a financial review of documents, management of local and international travel, communication management which involves management of our Internet & telecom service providers across the board, managing our document processing facilities like HelloSign and DocuSign, management & tracking of the IDRC fleet and handling all of the visiting collaborators’ logistics. The Admin department ensures that all IDRC offices are safe and secure -by guaranteeing robust monitoring of our Security & Alarm systems. The department also works with procurement to support the purchase of International goods and services, primarily the ones that require online support. 

IDRC has 5 major offices in the country- The head office & Annex offices, located in Nakasero and the site/field offices in Mbarara, Tororo and Busia / Masafu offices. All these have an administration representative on site. `The department comprises the Administration Manager, the Site Administration Coordinators, Admin officers, Transport officers and all the other Support staff.

Finance: Led by Senior Accountant Ms Kamisha Sylvia Irene, the finance department manages all IDRC accounting and financial reporting processes, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll payments, audits, cash receipts, cash flow management and tax management. The dedicated accountants support the research team in all project-related financial transactions within IDRC.

Grants and Contracts: Under the leadership of Senior Grants Manager Ms Susan Mugumya, this department oversees the management of grants and contracts for IDRC. They ensure compliance with regulations, develop suitable budgets, facilitate project set-ups and close-outs, produce regular financial reports, and track expenditure.
